I finally got around to watch it at the FSB unofficial headquarters. It was an experience to put it bluntly. Watching it on a big screen and good sound, made me appreciate the intricate sound design by Philip Glass even more. I know him from Koyaanisqatsi, I have not watched it yet, but I keep listening to the soundscapes. One of the songs from there, I guess Vessels reminds me of Lifafa’s Pari.
I have a deep love for Japanese writers, I relate very deeply to Osamu Dazai. This film has been on my watchlist for quite a while. I knew it had queer themes, but the way it was portrayed, did justice to the character. The jumps from story to reality, the connection between the two, the intricate visuals, all work in unison. It’s building up to the finale, the finale we know from the start, him marching into the garrison and addressing the troops.
Why did he have such respect for the the emperor and not the capitalist when both are images of tyranny?
I feel like the answer is somewhere in the chapters.
